Living Trauma Aware for Perinatal Practitioners

Course Overview

This course will focus on increasing the competence, sensitivity and humility of perinatal care providers, in an effort to promote the establishment of trauma-free and supportive perinatal care environments for all birthing people.

In addition, the course will focus on increasing provider’s ability to detect and assess for significant trauma coping deficits and/or strengths among diverse birthing communities, which impact perinatal wellbeing and emotional safety.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Utilize techniques to engage in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and humble ways with pregnant, birthing and postpartum individuals.
  2. Define Simple, Complex and Historical Trauma.
  3. Identify key situations to use trauma-informed communications at the bedside.
