Course Overview
This course will focus on increasing the competence, sensitivity and humility of perinatal care providers, in an effort to promote the establishment of trauma-free and supportive perinatal care environments for all birthing people.
In addition, the course will focus on increasing provider’s ability to detect and assess for significant trauma coping deficits and/or strengths among diverse birthing communities, which impact perinatal wellbeing and emotional safety.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Utilize techniques to engage in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and humble ways with pregnant, birthing and postpartum individuals.
- Define Simple, Complex and Historical Trauma.
- Identify key situations to use trauma-informed communications at the bedside.
